There is no universal best weapon
Weapon value changes with your progress, the opponent and the resources you can replace. Choose something you can maintain and use confidently instead of treating a tier list as a permanent answer.
Match weapon and preparation
Bring appropriate healing, protection and ammunition or materials where relevant. A stronger weapon does not replace learning an enemy's timing, range and hazards.
Upgrade with a purpose
Use upgrades when they make the next objective more reliable. If a fight still feels inconsistent, revisit positioning, food and defensive preparation before assuming raw damage is the only issue.
